Coronation Street aired the return of a familiar face on Friday night, but there wasn’t a happy ending.
Emma Brooker bumped into her former flame Curtis Delamere at the hospital, just weeks after kicking him out over his lies.
Curtis had been lying about having a heart condition, while he was later accused of stealing £100k of charity money from Emma’s dad Steve McDonald.
It turned out there was a technical glitch with the money transfer and Curtis was innocent all along, but Emma had already kicked him out of her flat and her life.
In the days that have followed, Emma has desperately tried to track him down to apologise and has left him calls and messages.
After ignoring her since their doomed wedding, Curtis was stunned when Emma found him at the hospital after she took an injured Tim Metcalfe there.
Emma begged Curtis to hear her out, and apologised for everything she said to him – hoping they could work things out.
Curtis had a go at her for her accusation, and tried to make her feel bad for thinking he was capable of stealing the money from charity.
Seemingly forgetting he’d lied to her for months, Curtis made it seem like he wasn’t sure there was a way back for them because she did not believe him.
He then explained he was at the hospital for another appointment with his psychologist, trying to get help for his factitious disorder.
Pleased Curtis was getting the help he needed, Emma was happy with their reunion and asked to stay in touch with her ex.
Curtis seemed up for this, before heading off to his appointment – but there was a shocking and upsetting discovery just moments later.
Emma realised Curtis had not gone to the right department in the hospital for his appointment, and soon found him in the cardiology appointment.
As she opened the door, she overheard him once again claiming to have a heart condition and demanding to see a specialist.
Emma realised Curtis had lied to her about getting help, and was back to claiming he was seriously ill with a heart condition.
As she confronted him outside the hospital, he tried to lie to her before realising he had been found out.
It’s then that Emma realised she could not help him anymore, and told him it was over for them.
Both Curtis and Emma fought back tears as they shared they had no regrets about their romance, before saying a final goodbye.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
