Ralf Rangnick praises reaction of Man Utd after Burnley win

The January transfer window is officially open for business once more.

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick will no doubt have drawn up his plans of who he would like to see come and go from Old Trafford this month.

After replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of last month, interim boss Rangnick will be hoping to bring his first arrival to the club in the upcoming window.

United were one of the busier Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window and they could be again in January.

Ronaldo’s agent discusses exit

Cristiano Ronaldo is “very happy” at Manchester United and he is destined to have a brilliant second half of the season, according to super-agent Jorge Mendes, despite recent murmurs of dissent in the ranks.

Ronaldo, 36, netted his 14th goal of the season and also chipped in with an assist as the Red Devils beat Burnley 3-1 in the Premier League on Thursday night.

However, a report earlier this week claimed Ronaldo is frustrated by recent underwhelming performances. Further, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is said to have been unimpressed by Ralf Rangnick’s coaching methods since the German took over as interim manager in late November.

But Mendes has moved to quash speculation of Ronaldo growing agitated by insisting he is quite content and will carry over his “great performances” into the New Year.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Man United. He’s going to continue with his solid, great performances as always in his career,” the Portuguese agent told Sky Sport, per Fabrizio Romano on Twitter. “It’s going be a great season for him, I’m sure.”

De Gea wanted

Juventus are reportedly eyeing a move for David de Gea to become their new no. 1 goalkeeper after his recent impressive performances.

David De Gea has been in inspired form of late

The Serie A giants are believed to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Wojciech Szczesny, who struggled last season, but has picked up his form with seven clean sheets this term.

Dean Henderson is in De Gea’s shadow at Old Trafford, and does not appear to have given up hope of usurping De Gea and becoming United’s no. 1 someday, with De Gea’s contract expiring in 18 months.

And Spanish outlet Todofichajes claim that Juventus are ready to pounce if the 30-year-old decides to seek pastures anew after 10 years in the Premier League.

Race for Araujo is on

Ronald Araujo has impressed for FC Barcelona this season

The list of Premier League clubs chasing Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo appears to have grown after United’s hat was thrown into the ring.

Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with interest for the promising 22-year-old, who has established himself under Xavi at the Nou Camp.

According to El Nacional, United believe that Araujo could provide a solution to their defensive issues.

And due to Barca’s tricky financial situation, the Uruguayan could be available for just £30m.
