Manchester United’s season is hanging in the balance as their on-field problems still linger despite a change in the dugout.
Ralf Rangnick is doing his best to steady the ship after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking and the interim boss is weighing up some fresh additions in January.
His task has not been made any easier by reports of unrest amongst his players, with Cristiano Ronaldo admitting the squad are “not happy” with the club’s current plight.
Some new faces could go some way to easing the tension around Old Trafford and get the fans behind the team again, as well as provide some healthy competition to United’s underperforming stars.
With some fringe players in need of shifting too, expect United chiefs to be plenty busy in the January window.
Here Mirror Football has rounded up the latest Man Utd transfer rumours and updates.

Lingard drops hint over move
One of the players who could be on his way out of Old Trafford this month is midfielder Jesse Lingard.
His contract is due to expire in June anyway, with no signs of any extension being agreed before then.
United could now use the opportunity to offload Lingard at a cut price and attract at least some kind of figure for the academy graduate, as well as get him off the wage bill.
A host of clubs are interested in his services, though West Ham remain hopeful of attracting Lingard back to East London after his successful loan spell last season.
Lingard has now added fuel to that fire, after posting a suggestive image on his Instagram story of him celebrating with his former Hammers teammates.

Van de Beek stuck at United
Manchester United misfit Donny van de Beek may have blown his chance of escaping Old Trafford this month after ditching his agent in a fit of anger.
Van de Beek split with long-term adviser Guido Albers in October after seeing a loan move to Everton collapse in the summer.
But his decision to ask rival agent Ali Dursan to find him a move during the January transfer window has backfired after Albers refused to release the Dutch midfielder from a binding contract they agreed 18 months ago.
Dursan cannot secure a mandate to represent Van de Beek without Albers’ permission – and the stalemate means the £35.7million signing from Ajax is set to spend the rest of the season sitting on the United bench.
A Dutch insider said: “It is very difficult to see how Van de Beek can move in this window. Dursan cannot secure a mandate to agree a deal because Donny is still under contract to be represented by Albers’ agency.
“That two-year agreement does not expire till the end of the season. So, unless something changes, the player will remain in Manchester.”

United ‘ready’ to pay Alvarez release clause

United are hoping to jump ahead of their European rivals to land a transfer coup in the form of River Plate hotshot Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine striker has caught the eye of United scouts, as well as admiring glances from Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
But it is United who are keen to steal a march by activating his £16.8m release clause to seal his signature.
German publication Sport claim United are prepared to stump up that fee to prise him away from River Plate this month.
