The petrista support of the musician Roger Waters
Left-wing candidate Gustavo Petro celebrated this morning the support of activist and musician Roger Waters, co-founder of the rock band Pink Floyd, and who has always been critical of right-wing leaders: Trump, Bolsonaro, or Boris Johnson.
“I have been following this election from afar,” Waters says of the Colombian election, in a six-minute video in which he reads a letter to voters. He says that his acquaintances told him that, after the first presidential round, the political right would do everything possible to prevent a leftist project from winning in the second: from using violence to attempting fraud. “Enough! All people, everywhere, have the right to genuine democracy, the freedom to express their wishes, demands and dreams, without fear of reprisals, arrests or even death,” says Waters. He ended his letter by asking Colombians to go out and vote for Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez, “not only for you, but for all of us, we need you.”
