Minister Çavuşoğlu will attend Pele’s funeral
Pele, one of the legendary names of world football, passed away at the age of 18. Struggling with colon cancer for a while, Pele scored over a thousand goals with the Santos jersey, which he wore for 19 years in his country, before ending his career in the USA’s New York Cosmos team. Pele’s statue was erected in front of Maracana Stadium, the birthplace of football for Brazilians. During his 19 years with his team, Pele won 10 state and 6 league championships, two Libertadores Cups and Intercontinental Cups. “Black Pearl”, “King of Football”, The legendary football player, nicknamed “King Pele”, became one of the players who exceeded the threshold of a thousand goals. Pele also entered the Guinness Book of Records by scoring 1,279 goals in his 1,363-match career. Pele’s funeral will be held on January 3 at Santos Stadium, where most of his career took place. After Pele’s death at the age of 82, the Brazilian government declared three days of national mourning. A ceremony will be held for Pele on Monday, January 2, and Pele will be buried on Tuesday, January 3.

Minister Çavuşoğlu will depart for Sao Paulo for Pele’s funeral after his contacts.
