In Istanbul, 3 thousand 99 libraries were reached in schools with the project “There will be no school without a library”.
In a written statement from the Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was stated that within the scope of the project carried out by the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife, Emine Erdoğan, libraries were established in 717 schools that did not have a library in 2 months. It was emphasized that the project reached 3 thousand 99 libraries in Istanbul.

In the statement, which emphasized that the collections of the libraries were also reproduced with digital publications and opened to service with the “MEB Publications” application of the Ministry of National Education and the website, it was noted that the libraries of the libraries, in which the names of living values such as Alev Alatlı, İlber Ortaylı, Yavuz Bülent Bakiler, İhsan Fazlıoğlu, Doğan Hızlan, were built by vocational high schools. .

Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı, whose views were included in the statement, stated that they did not leave any school without a library in Istanbul by completing the construction of a new library in schools without a library with the project “There will be no school without a library”.
Stating that the number of books in schools has reached 6 million 540 thousand 667 within the scope of the project, Yazıcı said, “With the project initiated by our Ministry, our libraries have become lively centers of art and culture. By making libraries the center of our children’s learning journey, we continue to bring them together with artistic, cultural and social activities. We also carry out activities related to libraries in our ‘I’m Reading Istanbul’, ‘Life is Worth Reading’, ‘Istanbul Fairy Tale School’ and all other projects that we carry out in our Directorate of National Education.”
RECYCLING LIBRARIES UNDER THE “ZERO WASTE” PROJECT
Yazıcı pointed out the importance of activities that make students like, internalize and habituate reading, and stated that they will continue to enrich the school libraries in terms of quantity and quality in 2023. Stating that recycling libraries were also built in Istanbul within the scope of the “Zero Waste” project, Yazıcı thanked the educators who contributed to the library work.
