Suspicious bag panic near Galata Tower

The suspicious bag found near the Galata Tower in Beyoğlu caused panic. Despite the security measures taken by the police, one person shouted, “I want to die anyway, brother. I will open this bag,” and took the bag he had gone to. After this person threw the bag after the intervention of the police, those on the street began to flee in panic. Popcorn, diapers and clothes came out of the bag, which was detonated with the detonator.

According to the news of DHA; The incident occurred yesterday at around 22:00 in Bereketzade Mahallesi Büyükhendek Street. The suspicious bag found at the entrance of a building caused fear and panic. Police teams, who came to the scene on the notice, took security measures in the surrounding area. The teams, who pulled a security strip to the area where the suspicious package was located, tried to remove the citizens from the area.

At the moments when the police tried to remove the citizens, a person went over the security line and went to the bag. He said, “I want to die anyway, brother. I’ll open this bag,” and took the bag in his hand. After the intervention of the police, he threw the bag on the street where the cafes were located. The citizen, who was detained by the police teams, was put in the team car.

CAFES SITTED PANIC AND STARTED ESCAPE

People, including tourists, sitting in cafes on Büyükhendek Street, panicked when the bag was thrown into the street and started running towards Şişhane.

BAG EXPLOSED WITH FUN

The suspicious bag was detonated with a detonator by the Bomb Disposal Specialist who came to the scene. Out of the bag was diapers, popcorn, food and clothes. After the investigation at the scene, the materials found in the bag were taken to the police station for examination. The police started a search to find the person who left the bag.
